Tucker Carlson is bravely digging in and presenting a broader, truer picture of what actually happened on “January 6,” by airing heretofore never-released footage taken that infamous day by U.S. Capitol Police.

Some of his main finds are that, Officer Brian Sicknick, who tragically died of a stroke the next day, was very much alive on January 6—the footage showing him managing the events of the day. The only person who tragically died that day was unarmed Ashley Babbit.* And, Jacob Shansley, the “Q-Anon Shaman,” who was the face of the J6 “insurrection,” was no threat at all, the footage reveals. He was being gamely escorted around the building by the Capitol Police until they could find a door to let him into the chamber and speak his peace, which first included praying for the officers who helped him. Not exactly the stuff of insurrection. And those who had come to witness, by their presence, to their concern over 2020 presidential election irregularities, were mostly peaceful, just milling around the Capitol, showing great reverence and respect for this civic temple. Though, admittedly, as Carlson notes, there were some hooligans, breaking windows and causing trouble. And, that is essentially all we’ve seen of J-6 until now.

The reason those thousands of largely peaceful American citizens showed up at the U.S. Capitol that day is precisely because the electoral votes were due to be counted, as required by the U.S. Constitution, and they had real concerns about the validity of the elections in certain states including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia, where Biden won by a whisker and where election counting shut down in each locale in the middle of the night, which is definitely irregular.

And, they did not want the electoral slates in certain states to be certified until a more thorough review and recount — a forensic audit — could be conducted.

The Electoral Count Act of 1887 makes provision for non-certification should there be objections in the face of election irregularities. To wit: “Upon such reading of any such certificate or paper, the President of the Senate shall call for objections, if any. Every objection shall be made in writing, and shall state clearly and concisely, and without argument, the ground thereof, and shall be signed by at least one Senator and one Member of the House of Representatives before the same shall be received.”

And, there was an objection, signed by Congressman Paul Gosar (R-TX) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), as required. In past years when Democrat representatives objected, notably in 2001 and 2017, they did not have the requisite senatorial signature and so Vice Presidents Gore and Biden, respectively, had to move on.

But, in this case, they had the signatures. And, the objections were due to be heard. Then, on cue, the “insurrection” began. And, shortly thereafter, about 2 p.m., when Senator James Lankford (R-OK), was speaking to the objections, the procedure was shut down. To suggest that this was President Trump’s idea and handiwork, makes no sense whatsoever. Shutting it down was the last thing he wanted.

Some are now, instead, suggesting it a was “fed-surrection,” because of mounting evidence that this was an inside job to stop the objections to the certification.

If true, it is truly a low point in American history.
